DALTON SQUARE SURGERY |
Dalton Square SurgeryTrainer: - Dr Neal Vaughan-Jones and Dr Andy Paton Practice: - The Practice is situated in the Town Hall Square in the centre of Lancaster-handy for sandwiches/Lunchtime shopping. PremisesThe surgery is situated in an attractive, late Georgian house (occupied since 1929), which sits around the main cobbled square in the town. Our accommadation includes 10 consulting rooms, two well equipped treatment rooms, 3 waiting rooms, , doctors common room, staff common room and kitchen. There is also a large cellar and private parking to the rear of the premises. The partners own the premises. Personnel and ListWe are an eight-partner practice, with Dr Vaughan-Jones and Dr
Breckon working as a job share. Whilst a large practice we communicate
well within the team, and indeed meet every morning for coffee in the GP
common room. The practice has been run on a personal list basis for many
years and patients usually see the doctor with whom they are registered.
As a registrar you will be encouraged to follow-up patients to enjoy and
appreciate the rewards of continuity of care/on-going GP- patient
relationship. TrainingSince 1977 Any Registrar joining the Practice will be fully integrated into the team . Teaching extends well beyond the trainer–registrar relationship and communication, support and feedback from all the doctors has always been a strength. We enjoy educating and you will find that in addition to the obligatory protected tutorial time, informal teaching is happening all the time. We have multi-disciplinary Education afternoons bi-monthly which often involve external speakers aswell as reflective discussion amongst the team. We embrace Clinical Governance as witnessed by other meetings tackling issues such as Audit/Significant Event Analysis and complaints review. Registrars have their own consulting room that they can customise and add their own personal affects. We also take 5th year medical students for general practice attachments. Dr Fairhurst co-ordinates this. WorkloadOur practice is busy. You will leave the Practice with the experience and competence to feel confident in your own abilities. Many ex-registrars are Partners in the area. On Call commitment is in accordance with the Statutory training requirements as stipulated by the Deanery. A Co-op has been set up to give emergency weekend cover and evening cover to our patients. There is a deputising service in Lancaster which, all the partners use for night visits. You will be expected to undertake 2 nights with attending Trainer support (we’re up all night with you) over the 12 months. |
