King Street Surgery and University Medical PracticeTrainer: - Dr C Elley & Dr P Tynan Practice: - Established in 1927, the King Street Medical Practice is the largest practice in Lancaster with 7 WTE Partners, 4 salaried associates and approximately 16,000 patients. We practice from two sites, one in the centre of the city and one on the campus of Lancaster University. We are an established training practice. Lancaster is a historic City, within easy reach of the Lake District and Yorkshire dales with good communications to other parts of the North West and the rest of the country. The city itself benefits from having a large cosmopolitan student population in terms of cultural, leisure and recreational facilities. The local schools are highly regarded and have an enviable academic reputation.
Practice AreaLancaster is part of the Morecambe Primary Care Trust. (www.mbpct.nhs.uk.) The PCT is the largest in the country and covers an area of some 3000 square miles. The Lancaster Local Health Group has a population of 138,251. The practice area includes Lancaster and surrounding areas up to a radius of about 4 mile. The area is mainly urban with some parts semi-rural. The surgery in the city is close to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. AccommodationKing Street: This is based in a part owned, part rented listed Georgian building with a modern extension, and there are 8 consulting rooms as well as 2 treatment/practice nurse rooms and an attractive library/quite room. There is also accommodation for attached staff.
University Health Centre: We moved into this purposed built premise in 2002. There are 6 consulting rooms, 2 treatment rooms, 2 multi-purpose rooms ,a Library/Quiet room and a shower.

ServicesPMS pilot October 2002: A full range of primary care services is provided including minor
operations, child health, family planning and asthma and diabetes
management. On call: Partners are part of an Out of Hours Co-Operative covering the hours of 6 pm-10pm, Monday to Friday and 8am-10pm at weekends. A separate rota, run on commercial lines, covers the hours of 10pm-8am Outside jobs:
