Rosebank Medical Practice is a seven partner practice (5.5 whole time equivalent) providing primary care to a list of around 10 000 patients.

We believe we can offer a unique registrar experience for a number of reasons:

  • We have modern purpose built premises at three sites:
The main surgery is based in Lancaster, five minutes walk from the town centre and two minutes walk from the Royal Lancaster Infirmary including the Post-Graduate Medical Education Centre.
We have a dispensing branch surgery in the village of Galgate which provides for a rural community.
We have a branch surgery north of the river Lune which provides primary care to a relatively deprived population.
  • The partners have a diverse range of medical interests outside of mainstream general practice including occupational health and alternative medicine. Dr Gallagher works in A+E and is a club doctor at Bolton Wanderers. Dr Nightingale is course organiser to the local scheme and works at St John’s hospice.
  • We currently use the Baydocs overnight deputising service (10pm-8pm) and participate in the Lancaster Weekend and evening Co-operative (The latter is currently based at our main surgery.) We are still in a position to train for out of hours work.
  • The registrar has his/her own room with facilities for making good quality video tapes of consultations. The practice is fully computerised using the EMIS system and we are equipped with decision support software than can help early in training. Two of our recent registrars have gained distinctions in the MRCGP exam so we are confident we can help registrars prepare for end point examinations.
  • We have a friendly, well motivated group of staff. We have an excellent primary care team most of whom are based at the main surgery. Our practice manager is well respected locally and has acted as a mentor for other practice managers.

For further information contact Dr Gallagher, Dr Nightingale or Mrs Richardson.
